Our swim will take place later this summer, between the 9th and 16th of June. Our CSA registered pilot will be pulling away from Dover beach at 3am accompanied by our team of five swimmers and our CSA Swim Assessor.
As this will be the most challenging open water swim that either of us have attempted, we are taking every measure possible in our preparation. Over the past six months we’ve been speaking with fundraising experts, world champion open water swimmers and past channel relay teams.
So far our training has consisted of the team returning to the pool; brushing off the cobwebs and getting used to the cold. We have been leaning into weekly pool sessions, immersing ourselves in cold water as much as possible and swimming outdoors in all weather. The cold will be of the major challenges we will be facing on the day and we’re all ready for the challenge.
Along the way we will be challenged with cold temperatures, high currents, rough water and of course, jellyfish. As competitive swimmers we are looking to complete our crossing in the fastest time possible, however we are prepared for tough conditions and everything the channel can throw at us.
Keep an eye out for updates around training and our fundraising efforts, we want to share this journey with everyone who supports us.
